Vented Vs Unvented Hot Water Cylinders

Vented hot water cylinders store and heat water that is fed directly from a tank, usually in the loft. An unvented hot water cylinder heats water directly from the mains which is heated via a heat source such as a boiler, therefore there is no requirement for a tank.
One of the main benefits of an unvented hot water cylinder is that there is no need for a cistern tank, therefore the cylinder itself could be installed in the loft freeing up cupboard space in your home.
Unvented hot water cylinders can only be installed with a heat only or system boiler. If you have a combi boiler you would require a vented hot water cylinder unless you were to replace the boiler at the same time of the hot water cylinder.
It really depends on what you are looking for are you looking to save space in your home? Are you on a budget? Vented cylinders are cheaper to install and maintain however an unvented cylinder will free up space and can be installed pretty much anywhere in your home.
